View Full Version : Help ! Dust on my sensor !!
I just realised that I've got this really ugly spot of dust on my D80 sensor - using a few different lenses, the same spot appears 'dusted'.
For now, I'm cloning out the dust spot when doing PP, but I'd like to be rid of it for good ...
Is there some place I can take to have it cleaned? Or is there some DIY dust cleaning method?
Thanks in advance for sharing ...

Don't do this. It may make it worse. Use a proper dediacted sensor cleaner of just send to Nikon Malaysia, in PJ.

Try blowing it with a proper blower first like the Giotto Rocket, it might just be resting there.
If it's welded you can take it to Nikon HQ for free cleaning, or get it done at somewhere like J One by Jason for a reasonable price.

Thanks. I just read about mirror lockup and I think I'd like to maybe consider it if I have proper blower and maybe a less dusty environment.

I agree, mate. I think I'll let the pros do the cleanup.

i also have been blowing my sensor for quite some times now coz i don't have the luxury to send my camera to nikon everytime i spotted dust coz i stay in Penang.
but it is good to clean them in a proper way tho'.
I think you should try to clean it yourself. You just can't be sending your camera back to NIKON to get it clean each time. Just order a cleaning kits from SSK and have fun.
I cleaned my CANON 30D last month. I tried the blower, it did cleared the biggest spot of dust away but at the same time more tiny dust spots appeared (I can tolerate small dust as it didn't actually show in the picture). I also used charged Sensor Swap II but only to sweep the dust to the edge (May be I am not doing it right) and finally I have to use the wet pad and after 3 attempts, I finally get the sensor sparkling clean.

I do it all the time (using blower) on my D70, like almost every time after a shoot. But usually in my room with air cond on and windows closed. Maybe I do it all the time the inner body is quite dust free that it can't increase any more dust on to the censor (just guessing). Been doing it for almost two years and has so far cleared all the dust away *touch wood.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
It's a risk I'm willing to take, but that's just me.
