Auto white balance

I'm just curious as to why it's better to set the white balance when shooting, versus auto?

It just seems to be more convenient to shoot auto w/b then adjust it in post processing later.

auto white balance is never accurate... neither is setting ur white balance to the "prescribed" settings...

Manually setting white balance gives you a better pic...

to me.. do it before or do it after is same...

But that is if you shoot in raw...

Last time wasn;t the case with film... also not the case if you shoot in jpg... as it is harder to adjust without loss of quality.
