View Full Version : What is the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB and related questions.
I am still relatively new to the digital world. Would you mind explaining to me in easy to understand terms the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB and why it is important. The more I read here, the more I want to learn, the more I am aware I don't know...
Thanks once again for your help.

In simple terms... adobe RGB covers more colours than sRGB
I am new to the digital world too and am fumbling my way along. I just shot a series of photos on Adobe RGB and all I can say is that I got all funky and weird colours that I cannot seems to get right. The people I spoke to told me to stick to sRGB and forget about Adobe RGB. Can anyone offer more insights?

This has been discussed before so please search the forum :)
But generally just set your camera to sRGB and process your files in sRGB you won't go wrong.

reproducing colours as our eye see's is difficult...
basically, the colour gamut of the Abobe RGB covers more colours than sRGB. What that means is that more shades of colours can be captured and shown in the image than with sRGB...
CMYK lagi worse, as it has even smaller colour gamut, butt CMYK is the prinitng standard...
Do a simple test in Photoshop...
Take a RGB image and convert to CMYK... you will see the colours become dull in some area, this is because the CMYK gamut cannot reach those areas the RGB gamut does...
Especially "flouro colours, metallic and stuff...
of course srGB n Adobe not so big a diff, but still...
