Hi ShaolinTiger, thanks for the compliments. :) Bau (http://www.bau.com.my/) is a small town about 50km southwest of Kuching (please see the map below). Tasik Biru (The Blue Lake) was a gold mining site which stopped operation since the 1970's. This lake is now the tourist attraction of this small town where city dwellers can have a weekend escapade. For the cave goers, there are limestone caves here called the Wind Cave (http://www.forestry.sarawak.gov.my/forweb/np/nature/windcave.htm) and the Fairy Cave (http://www.ibanorum.netfirms.com/fairycave.htm) where the local photography societies visit quite frequently.

I went to the lake when I visited Sarawak last year. It seems the lake has such a beautiful blue due to arsenic (if i remember correctly) contamination from gold mining activities long-long time ago.

Firstly - welcome to Shutter Asia, where we keep photography alive (or at least we try our best :P)

Then, an applause on the nice reflected sky+clouds in the lake surface. Simply brilliant. Also not forgetting the informative stuff you have provided. My geography sucks, I cant find where Kuching is even as I type now LOL :?

And just curious, is it safe to actually have recreational activities in the lake since it was contaminated with arsenic?

Gojira can't show you the pics on his "Hiden Lair." He's afraid of people swarming into his territory after seeing the pics. :D

Thanks jayhan. Nobody is allowed to have any recreational activity in the lake because of the contamination. It's a place for your eyes only and activities are limited to the banks only. :)

Do I sound like one? :D Nuh! I'm working in a local university and the way I present the information is probably very academically orientated due to my profession. Haha... :D

buntal is the name of the fishing village that sits on the bank of one of the tributaries of the sarawak river:)..it was famous for the belacan production but sadly no more:(..its now more well known for its sea food restaurants on stilts:)...its about 30km from kuching very near the cultural village...rainforest music festival
