(Leave this thread for opinions only, list down the actual places only on the other thread (http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=76) created by me) - leslie
I just thought of starting this list of scenic locations for outdoor model photoshoot. List of location must not only be scenic, but some form of privacy would be appreciated, accessibilty factors etc etc. Users can then use this list as a quick guide - which should be helpful to determine location for shoot. Feel free to update list of locations (by copy paste). Some short description would be appreciated as well. I'll get the ball rolling.
1. Technology Park Malaysia. - Long isolated road with lush greens on side. Ideal for shooting models with cars.

2. KLPac - Nice scenery with very few people around, green grass, lake and Japanese garden.
3. Cyberjaya - Especially late at night, completely deserted with regal buildings and long straight roads.
4. FRIM - Forest/Jungle scenes with some waterfalls
5. Templers Park - Similar to FRIM

Melaka, Ipoh, Penang, some parts of KL - old pre-war buildings. Swallows build their nests in some of these old homes.
Cityscapes - those who work in city highrises have an advantage.
Putrajaya at night - deserted, too. Take your pick of the Botanical Gardens and Nature Park during the day or buildings by night. The IOI hotel and Marriott are also good, nicely lighted at night.
Paya Indah Wetlands
Anything else that captures your fancy. :D

I would prefer we can write some guides like where are these places located, how far from the center of KL, how to get there. what form of tranportations, contact number, entrance fee and etc, and attach with some pictures of the place.
As such, people from outside of the city or country can find their way there, instead of listing down the name of the places.
What do you think ? :?

I had the same thought as Caveman, perhaps we can organise some model shoot or reccy at each location.
Take some pics, check parking, access and so on.
Then give some maps and so on.
We can have a thread for each place, can also act as a good tourist guide for people outside, aswell a good shooting guide for locals.

Ahh.. place where i used to play hide and seek during kids :D
Some history
btw.. in 1943 my grandpa was a member of the MPAJA - yup Chin Peng's men and together with the help of locals smuggled guns and explosives and hid it 50 metres from the back of Ipoh Railway station.
During that time the British supplied weapons via Pahang and up north Kedah via sea and these weapons were kept hidden for almost 1 1/2 years, before Allied SAS and Chin Peng "running dogs" launched massive counterattacks against Japanese troops stationed just across the Station in late 1944. Ipoh station was spared from heavy Allied bombing during the war so it wasnt rebuild, unlike Sentul Station which was completely flattened in 1945 by the Americans. Some 1,000 Jap soldiers were killed in their barracks in Sentul.

Dear Guardian,
I suggest someone update all the listed location to the first post. This will make us easier to refer to. Imagine if this thread grows to ten of pages, then it will be very difficult to trace each and every post.
TQ

Not sure if you guys are willing to travel all the way here but I find this part of the trunk road leading to Sitiawan very scenic. I was on my way to Pulau Pangkor (via Sitiawan) last year and noticed this long straight stretch of road with paddy field on both sides. Didn't manage to get any good pictures cos we're late, just got one decent on with my hand sticking out from the car.

Does anyone know if shooting in KLPac requires special/written permission of some sort?

No you don't but you aren't allowed to take pictures of the scenery or buildings etc.
If you only point your camera at the model it's ok :)
If you point your camera at a swan, the grass, the theatre or anything else a guard will come and ask you not to shoot the environment.

you are actually not allowed to shoot in the vincinity if the park. i've approached the management to ask for permission before but they did not allow me to conduct a shoot there. if you really want to shoot there, u can write in and pay a rather hefty fee to use the premises for photography or videography purposes.

yes u can get away shooting in the park coz the park is so big and not that many guards. but it is definitely not allowed by the management. yea, as shaolintiger sed just gotta be smart (or shrewd for that matter) when u take the pics.

Great discovery there, LimGT~! Being a Sitiawan, Perak native myself, another landmark that u may try to photograph (along the KL-Lumut way, using the Kuala Selangor-Sabak Bernam-Teluk Intan stretch) would be the light railway/trains which occasionally carry oil palm from the plantations to the refinery and it's also located somewhere beside another factory named Bernam Bakery, if I am not mistaken :D PLUS there are obviously MANY SCARECROWS on the paddy fields to do some ultrazoom shots tho'
