Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens

Hi everyone,,

Im thinking of buying a new Tamron 17-50mm lens or 2nd hand Canon 17-40 f/4.0 L. Most of my friends are recommended me to buy this Tamron lens. Since the lens range is the same with the kit lens, is it worth keeping my kit lens? :? :?

Or should I just sell that lens...

It's worth keeping as a backup, just in case your primary lens is damaged or being serviced etc.

You won't get much for it anyway.

And the kit lens isn't that bad afterall, especially if you keep it as backup. You won't get more than RM200 if you try to sell it anyway.

It's sharp if you stop down to f8 but colors and contrast not comparable to L lens. You can then PS it to boost colors and contrast :P. Since the value is so little you rather keep it just in case in need to upgrade your body or use as backup. I hope this helps.

=.= dont compare kit lens with L lens la, hehe. for landscape kit lens more than enough lo.

I think I'll just keep it, went to YL camera few days back, and they said if I wanna trade it, they'll only give RM100 for the price... hahahaha,

KEEP IT. I will go to JAPAN for free when my photo win and i only using CANON KIT LENS to captured the winning image. So..my advice keep it and use it. KIT LENS RULESSSS...hohohoh

sold mine away to YL for RM100++.
I'm the type who dun like to keep extras (for backup or watever reasons) cuz I see them as sampah which I wont be using (until the backup time comes which god knows when!). cash flow more important to me rather than stocking on something i wont use.

Cause budget. :D My pocket ain't deep enough to buy those lovely lens that is on sale. And right now, the 350D only have a 80-200 lens, want the kit lens to cover the 18 - 55 range.
