this new IS lens is 4 stop, and said to be still maintain the cheap selling price.. and if u used 40D or mark 3 with its digic III, shooting at 1600 ISO and above, i dont think its necessary to use the IS :P

that is for sure, lot of shops now are sellin 400D kit brand new for 2200-2300, and there are still people sellin their used 400D at that range of price, and they are havin a hard time to sell it..

just got news from my source in singapore. the 40d is officially launched today. price is sgp$ 2099 (rm 4825) body only. warranty doesn't cover malaysia. my guess is that it will be in malaysia very soon. i still think the price that canon has quoted me with the new IS kit lens at rm 6099 is still valid. my guesstimate is rm 5999.

i've been reading this thread, it seem you guys are really excited about the 40D........
what i can say is.....
for the official launch... of the product and other product along with 1ds, few ixus and power shot G series ++ in malaysia is not far away,give it...one week plus.(ten days or so).. and you will not be disappointed.

however stocks for 40D............... however.... i assume you can guess it.....but they (Canon) are really trying their best to get it "perfect"/ready..before official announcement....
and stocks for 1Ds........ hmmm............ so please be patient and stay tune!

I shoot raw,faithful. When converting to jpeg,beside the white balance,there's a "eye dropper". Click it, follow by selecting a white point on a particular pic. that will correct the color.

I recognized this color output. It looks striking similiar with the output of my 400d.

Hmm, my 400d had the same reddish or too warm characteristic on all photos. That is why I got myself a white balance card.

A wedding sifu check my 400d, and commented that my LCD is either too warm or my CMOS sensor is too sensitive to red.

Maybe, the 400d uses the same sensor as the 40d.

If that is true, that maybe the 40d also suffers from the underexposure problem like the 400d. Since the red channel is too sensitive, the camera will underexposure the other green and blue channels. Therefore, resulting in an underexposed photo by 1/2EV to 2/3EV.

I always had a difficuilt time fixing the color balance of the 400d.

Shot with EF 135 f2, at f2.5 shutter speed around 1/200 to 1/350 , picture style faithful , apply only mild USM (to avoid noise) :)

p/s All the posted pics are cropped ( with two 100% crop)
