Can anyone out there give me some tips on how to take good photos on this coming 28th Aug lunar eclipse?
I'm using Canon 400d sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO Macro.

Looking forward to 28th August. Hope the weather will be fine.

Whoops .. . guess i'm too late =/ Anyway i heard malaysia had a bad weather on that day right ?

Anyway tat was my 1st time shooting moon ... incase you're as new as me .. i have something to tell you .. but if you already know it then ignore me .. coz i think it's really basic :P

Don't shoot in A mode :P I thought just shoot in A with smallest aperture then let the camera figure out the shutter time .. if you do this .. you will get a yellow round :D ( starting phase im talking about .. when it's yellow )

Instead ... use M .. smallest aperture ( F32 for my D40 ) ... and shutter speed anywhere from 1sec to 1/2.5 ... juz try and see which is the effect you want ... of coz u need a tripod for best result :)

For the full eclipse when it's red ... need more time i guess ... i used like .. 20 to 30 seconds if i've not mistaken ... so i guess tats all ? haha ... hope you don't find this "tips" of mine silly ..

AND YES .. most importantly .. CHARGE YOUR BATTERY FULL .. i stayed in campus and i went out with about 10 friends to shoot the moon ... 9 of them ran out of battery half way lol .... well they are using p&s so .. the battery run out quite fast :P Long shutter speed really kills your battery ...

With those settings ... this is what i get : http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3547&page=2

Not the best in my oppinion .. so if anyone has any better settings or anything to share .. please do :)
