this is my first attempt on not-so-macro shooting using 50/1.8 with reversal ring. *cheapo macro*
anybody knows what's this?
my guess is some sort of "kutu air".

Nothing wrong with the picture, in fact very good. Save for a proper macro because that's the "necessary" equipment for close-up pictures. :)

Nice macro photo. Look like a water spider (argyroneta aquatica).

thanks noordin! trying my best with limited resources. and yes, 105VR/2.8 is in my wishlist & will stay in my wishlist for a least a year! hehe. D80 + Tamron 17-50/2.8 are much tempting! hehe.

Nice macro photo. Look like a water spider (argyroneta aquatica).
thanks alvinlau! i look-up in Google for "argyroneta aquatica" but it shows different type of spider.

Awesome catch, that looks like one scary spider!
thanks Crazymalaysian! naah, it's not that scary. actually it was in lazy posture. so i have to "provoke" him so that he can give me more intimidating posture! hehe.

very nice.... and it doesnt look cheapo at all
thanks QQ! this is part of stuffs that i did during the weekend. sorry for not meeting u at kuantan! hehe. if it doesn't look cheap, than u can know this is a cheap macro technique by measuring the amount of pain of your back! shooting this fella really challenged my back! arghhh....

Arachnid lar, bro

Sighhh...Nikon glass IS Nikon glass, even when reversed! :D
thanks alan for the thumbs-up! seriously, spider ke? not "kutu air" ke? hmm... yes, nikon glass roxx... if only i can afford Nikon lenses that i've been dreaming about. oh my 80-200/2.8... oooooooh!!

thanks ST!!! yup, he's ugly alright. i'll post some more photos later. taken with reverse lens, really a challenged. hurt my back, soaked my camera strap in the pool (have to wash it!!!), water drops hit my lens & camera body....

Very nice catch Azumi! Especially considering that you were using "only" a reversed 50mm lens.

Defnitely a spider of some kind...probably from family of wolf spiders, judging by the way it's legs are articulated from it's body. You can actually see the tip of its fangs...nasty!

Now....I'm waiting for you to show us the head shot!

thanks Gojira!! yupp, using reversed 50mm is a real challenge. this is my first attempt on macro shot. spider? i dunno, i still think it's a kutu air. wait, i shall post the photo of it's head later after i go home. seriously, i need to know what kind of insect it is. hehe..:donow:

Um, it looks like from the Tetragnatha genus ... could be Tetragnatha elongata ...

Oh, I forgot to add ... these are some cool macro pics using the "reversed lens" technique. I'm amazed with the sharpness you achieved!

thanks Caveman! i'm glad u like them but my shots are way far behind yours.
please let me know if there's anything i can do to improve my shots.
using reversed 50/1.8 is a struggle. *still waiting for u to give me your macro lens* :D
btw, it's Tetragnatha elongata (all credits goes to blur for identifying the spider).
