Momoyama, a new Japanese restaurant in Kuching. Located at Phoenix Plaza, Jalan Song Thian Cheok, next to the Li Wah Hotel. Reasonably priced and food tasted good too.

Thinner slices of salmon do not reflect the deeper colour.

The salmon is orange-y because it's probably farmed salmon from Norway, New Zealand or Australia. Those of you more familiar with the bright pink salmon, be warned that it does not reflect the quality of the fish but rather, the additional colouring in the fish feed used for salmon farming.

It may not be actual salmon too but ocean trout. Real, wild salmon is far more expensive and has flesh that's a pale but fresh pink. The taste is different too...smoked wild salmon and smoked farm salmon can be worlds apart in flavour and texture!

Alvin has treated me and wifey to lunch here once...wait till you see their immense shabu-shabu....
