1Dmk3 Vs. D300

Guys,

can you please advice me on which to buy next?

i am currently holding a 400D, 17-40 f4 L, 70-200 f2.8 L non IS and 50mm f 1.8 II.

should i change the whole set back to Nikon d300 or not? thanks for your advice..

If you want to compare you should compare with D3 vs 1D not D300.

Plus neither are even out yet...so go ahead and get the 1D MKIII :)

D300 is not a pro camera rather one below it. D3 is a pro camera so is 1DMkIII. While D3 is an all purpose camera, the 1DMkIII is purpose-built for outdoor and sports, just like the Nikon D2Hs. So actually if Nikon were to have a D3H, that would be a direct comparison.

Based on price the D300 is around RM6,500+ (I think) and the battery grip would cost another RM700+. So a total of say RM7,500. But the 1DMkIII is around RM14,000+. So you're really not comparing 2 cameras in the same market segment. The D3 meanwhile would cost around RM14,000.

looking at the current situation....i not really want to compare for direct function....... price factor i sure can save more for the 1dmk3..... plus canon drop price quite fast..... so was hoping to get it next year....so now gathering info lah.....

another question.. in terms of function, noise control, fps.... which is better? d300 or 1D mk3

To put is simply

FPS - MK3 10 FPS vs D300 6.5~8 FPS
Noise - MK3 1.3 Crop vs D300 1.6Crop, traditionally 1D or 5D has excellent noise control, I doubt D300 can win.
Control - MK3 is a pro cam....no contest

I advice stick with canon, get a 40D now while you save and be happy to be on the White side :tongue_roll:

A fairer comparison would be to pit the D300 w/grip vs 5D which is about the same price range.

But bear in mind 5D is nearing the end of its shelf-life and a replacement model is due, if u can wait.

thanks guys... prior to using 400D, i was using D200.... miss those days where the 5fps sounds so fierce and ta pau all the photographers in the college..... everyone was eyeing on my camera... hehehe anyway... i think i will go for 1D mk3 ler... i dun want d300 with 1.5 crop ler.. should be a lot of noise...

1dmk3 is good enough... hehe.. some barger ask me to get 1Ds mk3...***... 30K lah that thing... crazy siao...

my d200 was good...... but i cannot afford other bigger lens... and of course also got some financial problems ler..so i trade in for a conversion...got some money back...happy a bit now...that is until..........1d3 annouce pulak...... **** man... so mah wait ler... now also still "kumpul"ling duit mah
