We decided to take this vacation after having been coaxed a few times by my younger brother and his lovely wife. My first visit here was about 40 years ago and the only memories that remained was my auntie climbing the cliff to pluck an anggerik.
We left Kuantan on Sunday morning to attend a wedding in Padang Piol. The lauk were rendang kerbau, gulai lembu, patin masak tempoyak and gulai sayur. The food were nice and we were also given tempoyak by Kak Arfah, my second cousin who had been waiting for us there.

#1. Dusk at the town centre
We reached Bentong at about 3.00pm and straightaway proceeded to Fraser's Hill. When we reached Teranum, we realized that we only had a quarter tank full. We were then told by Teranum Police station that there were no petrol kiosk at Fraser's Hill, Gap and even in Teranum - the nearest will be at Raub. We had the tank fully filled at Raub and started the climb back via Teras and Teranum before reaching Fraser's Hill at 6.30pm.
It might be due to the very winding road, or too much food at Padang Piol, but a few of us got ill. Alhamdulillah, the supposed-to-be-not-so-fit driver was unaffected. We checked in at The Pines 3 room apartment and then to town to get some medicine for the sick.

#2. Dawn, a view from our balcony
The air was cooling fresh, the scenery breathtakingly beautiful and green with old English-themed buildings still maintained.

#3. BBQ at the apartment
We had BBQ and played scrabble on the first evening.

#4. The golf course
On the next day we visited the Jeriau Waterfall, recce for tarantula nests, went down to Lembah Beringin to get Momad from KYUEM and up to Fraser's Hill again, tea at Ye Olde Smokehouse, enjoyed the sceneries along the narrow, winding roads by car, strolled around the town, BBQ again and hunted tarantula (with moderate success).

#10. A tarantula that we saw
The last day of our trip, I took an early morning walk to town and had nasik lemak for breakfast. Then we walked along the exciting Bishop's Trail that should have been renamed Pacat's Trail, enjoyed the pacat-free Hemmant's Trail, before leaving Fraser's Hill at about 1.00 noon.
I was a worthwhile, exciting and thrilling journey. We look forward to come back again next year to continue with the hunt.
