Basically the place is a mini F1 mockup with demonstrations of the various technologies involved in F1 racing.

It includes a mini-pitstop where you and your friends can race against the clock to change the tyres and refuel a real F1 car.

It also has some simulations and a mock-up of the F1 driver training area with some reaction testing equipment and weights.

I was there for a cocktail party with Intel, apparently Intel Core Duo is used in the computers controlling the F1 cars and helps to process the vast amounts of data that the cars churn out allowing the team to manage the car more effectively.

The party was fairly well populated with the usual suspects on show (X3, 6 series, 7 series and 5 series) plus journalists from most of the popular publications.

469

It was a really hot day, especially by the side of the mini track where they were having RC car racing.

470

Joey G the VJ was the emcee.

471

Timo Glock the BMW-Sauber test driver number two was also there and said a few words (and received a helluva ugly batik shirt as a gift).

472

Joey G was selling the merits of the Intel Core Duo processor, they actually shot a commercial live during the event and edited it in real time to show the power of the Core Duo system.

477

Anyway enough of the boring event pics, let's see the fun ones.

I didn't catch the guy on the bikes name, but he was awesome! Total control over the bike like it was part of him. It was a bloody powerful bike too, some nice stunts.

He's the man! Here he is doing a front wheelie to start.

478

After that I tried some panning shots during his stunts, I'm not very good I know..need more practise!

479

This guy rocks the bike, seriously!

480

He can even make a complete circuit with no hands, breaking and turning the bike with his feet and body weight.

481

He was going damn fast too, for such a confined space.

486

The tricks he was doing were highly dangerous and required intense concentration!

Thanks mac, I did try to do a variety of shots some with the full bike and some with close-up, I was very limited as to how I could take shots though due to the way they'd set up the area around the test track.

Yes my mistake it's a Formula BMW car. Thanks!

Up until late evening I believe, the bike guy performs at something like 5pm and 8pm.

Yah and it's too big, noisy and powerful haha.

Great shots ST! I'll be going tonight. Hopefully not too crowded.

Thanks, it will be crowded on the weekend for sure, that's why I prefer to go in the week.

ST....very good cover of the event....and good panning shots...I hope i could do that myself..

Thanks DK, we can have an outing to practise at any bus-stop one day haha.

Thanks...wow that was a long time ago that panning shot in Putrajaya with my macro lens hehe.

I used the 70-300mm Nikkor VR lens for these panning shots and the Sigma 10-20mm super wide for the wide angle.

Thanks alan :) Yah have to practise panning quite a bit, but once you get a feel for it and the shutter speeds required it's not too bad.

Very nice panning shots, ST...
and the event well covered... great!:)

Thanks Norm, do drop by if you are interested in F1, pretty neat show.
