Since its Easter break this weekend, I'm setting myself off for some landscape shooting. Its spring now, and flowers are growing everywhere - well, almost everywhere. If everything goes well, I'll have some photos of:

1. Farm/Field scenes
2. Seascapes
3. Woods
4. Gardens
5. Lakeviews

Its been some time since I last shot any landscapes, so pls bear with mediocre results. C&C are very much welcomed of course. :)

DAY1 : THURSDAY - 5th APRIL 2007
Hethel, Norfolk
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Description : Hethel is located about 20miles from Norwich City. It is basically a farming area and the main plantations available here are Canola. They are planted for their seeds which can be processed to obtain Canola Oil. Products made from these are the likes of margerine. It so happened that my office is situated right smack in the middle of Hethel... so I took my camera along and snapped these shots while on my way back after work. I've titled them individually.

Wish I am there. Nice landscape series. The sky is really blue. Did you use any CPL or ND grad?

I have the ND8 grad and thinking of getting the ND4 Grad and ND8 but dun find the need to use it here often. Good to have them just in case.

Why the sky towards the horizon looks dimmer in Life?

I got to know that they are called Canola plants... so I assume they are called Canola flowers?? :P

Yes I did use a CPL and positioned myself perpendicular to the sun direction. - which is the best angle for a CPL to work. I also used a ND Grad 4 to get the blue skies.

Why the sky towards the horizon looks dimmer in Life?
Probably due to some optic effects. The horizon colors are a bit greyish blue in real... but sometimes CPL does play tricks so cant help that - especially when there is such a blend of clouds in the sky. Another reason I can think of is that the "whitish" part was very close to where the sun was... so that could be another reason.

Uhh... Malaysia got loads of blue skies... just replace the foreground with some sawah padi or palm trees :P

Thanks noordin. I was having difficulties trying to adjust exposure for the 3rd shot... the yellow of the flowers are really bright in actual... and I didnt wanted to overexpose the sky - even with the ND grads in place... so have to settle somewhere in between, where I know it kinda blown the highlights of the flower. Its good you noticed that though. :)

So, I'll be heading to a coastal line later to try catch some sunrise. Hopefully I can manage to... so look out for more updates on this thread! Cheers!
