View Full Version : Trashing the dress

I knew Cherrie from working for my previous company. She’s fun, she’s lively, and that hyperactive girl that I knew for these few years is getting hitched. Being the person who sat next to me til on my final couple of months I was working previously, I got to know how witty she can get.
Perhaps, she’s my next candidate in experimenting something what they call “Trash the dress…”.
I’ve got the concept from these bunch of photographers over here - http://trashthedress.wordpress.com. Obviously, their work is god level. I am new to this and I am very please with the photos taken.
It was a overcast Monday morning when we gather early to head to our location. I met Brandon a number of times, and I think he is as witty as Cherrie. Funny and mischievous, all for the right reasons. They are made for each other.
The search for a perfect location came to an end when we found a great spot of both tropical rain forrest and a nice river.
Here are some of my favorite, and I am glad to be able to share with everyone some of my work taken on the day.

Now this is something of a different genre... bridals x-treme! :D like them, altho some technical nit-wits can still be improved. personal faved is 1 and 3. some flaws (technically) are those 4th and 5th shot where the shadows that cast on the faces somewhat should have been avoided.
but i know how hard it can be shooting under canopies of big trees. :P
been there done that - and it pissed me to oblivion.
good job nevertheless!

on number 3, the bride sitting on the tree looks like it's super imposed into the picture, did you PP the thing?! dunno, or maybe it's just a play of lights.
like number 6 the most, the bride looks so sensuous. :tongue_roll:
too bad the groom wasn't exposed to much light on number 5, he dissolved into the shadows...
great work man! with photographers like you, i definitely would seek you guys than those bridal studios in the future. their style not really to my taste and not very memorable as well as tons of people are doing the same thing as well. like, following a format?! -__- but this, is seriously something to remember! :D
thanks for the eye candy~

wow... damn nice leh!! new ideas.. good good.
pic 3, the bouquet of roses behind the rock there, it's partly hidden and i think it's better to place it somewhere prominent or dont place it in the frame at all. From first glance, it looks like a backpacker's bag at the back there. totally foreign from the pic :)
other than that, like jay said, the shadows but this type of work great!
interestingly, I have no problem with the shadows whatsoever

Hi guys, thank you for these warm comments. It's great to know that you guys are liking it.
I personally find it tough to be managing the lights, the composition, the poses, the feel, the shadow and all every other factor, especially in the water. I don't have anyone on reflectors, and I am not very good in off camera lightings. Hence, the technicallity issues that you can see in the photos. I am trying.
It's like, it isn't easy to be a photographer eh!
nairud, *nod* agrees. :)
I think there is a place for pre-wedding photoshoot in bridal studio. Just don't cut them short :). I recommend that anyone who is getting married to check out what is there to offer in bridal studio as well as photographers like myself.
Nevertheless, it was extremely fun, dirty, cold, and adventureous. The rush of adrenaline kept us all going. The chimping on my display screen gave instant gratification to me and more importantly my subject as they know they are really getting something different. Kept us wanting to experiment even.
I am pleased with my first trial, and I am looking forward for more to come. Alas, I am not pp the photos to be delivered to the bride and groom. Rest assure I'll be posting more photos about this shoot soon.
Thank you for your all your constructive critics. I am happy that I'm able to share and at the same time learn from all of your views.
cheers
