Thank you seethoe, it is scary indeed. :D
A couple more,
Kungfu bug,
522
Everyone else thought this bug was just a piece off a tree, I begged to differ and showed them eyes. Too bad focus slightly off, sob sob. ;)
523
A beautiful damselfly, thanks to crazylobster for spotting it!
524
A tiny, tiny, tiny bug we saw flying about, extremely hard to catch, but I managed to with one hand extended out and shooting with the LCD. Interesting patterns on the body.

Nice shots you guys got there. Crazymalaysian, love your damselfly ... i've got a lumix too 0 & used to do some really close macros. Kenneth, did you attach the raynox to your 17-50? How much does it cost & how many times magnification?
I had a meeting and came late for the shoot.. Only at 11:30.. Was also in time for the group shot! Haha you'll see later..
Well here are the very few shots I took.. Took only 29 pics.. Resulted in 21 pics. I only took a few shots to post up. This time, I shall label my pics better
1 - Egg legged freak with horns
530
2 - Standing freak
531
3 - 2nd of standing freak
532
4 - Green frog with orange eyes
533
5 - Caterpillar with 'don't know how many' eyes

In case anyone is wondering, the spider with the thorns belongs to a family of spiders called "spiny spiders". They are a rare and an endangered species (due to deforestation). The bright colors are to attract prey, and the sharp thorns mean it wont be an easy lunch to predators. Credit to me for spotting it. :D
Ming your shots are good what, dont complain and say your shots suck! The spidey is sharp.

It was a fun outing with really nice weather and a decent amount of bugs to aim at.
Macro is much harder than it looks and I still have a lot to learn hehe, thanks to all for attending.
Group shot added to first post in the thread, here's a few from me.
Termite Army (are they termites?)
544
The Fly
545
Weird t-shaped bug

I love spiders, and capturing them on film...I found a few interesting ones this trip.
This little fella was cute and was jumping all over the place including all over Crazymalaysian's camera!
550
This guy was relaxing on his web.
551
The other thing that caught our attention was the Maiden Flys, really stunning colours (We call them anorexic dragonflys).
552
They do move around quite a lot, but thankfully like dragonflys then tend to stay in the same area.
We also spotted a small frog on the way out (this is uncropped).
553
And a grasshopper (I think?)
554
That's all for now, will post more later!

FRIM is a very nice place, we got there quite early in the morning so the sun was still rising in the sky.
It's really like being in the jungle! :flower:
#1 Sunny Day
646
We also discovered an inherent flaw with the Canon S3IS, whoever said it's good for macro doesn't know how macro is taken and what it involves (and generally what lighting conditions macro is taken under).
Although the camera can actually focus at 0cm for macro...the pop-up flash doesn't extend high enough to cast light on anything that close to the lens rendering it useless.
Unless you want to shoot at super high-ISO to get a reasonable shutter speed, which of course is not a good idea.
So it's ok for Macro, but definitely not good and 100% tested the FZ50 kicks it's ass!
#2 Canon S3IS and Exo-skeleton
647
#3 Lovely blue skies and leafy greens
648
#4 The forest was beautiful with the sun streaming in
650
#5 During the journey we stumbled across another busy termite highway (We jokingly called this one Federal Highway as it was so packed)
651
ShaolinTiger
04-11-2007, 02:24 AM
#6 This is the same guy in the first post in this thread, pretty scary fella!
662
#7 Colourful Caterpillar!
661
#8 1 Legged Cricket
660
#9 After all of that, we had Segambut Seafood Noodles in Chow Yang, SS2
663
Thanks again to everyone that came :)
Good trip and good lunch!

Cute spider - was the breeze blowing or the spider moving its web? Its shadow on the lovely shade of green opens up possibilities for creative cropping.

One of my faves!

The best of the lot from the trip - a girl beat the boys in getting this cute beetle :D:D Tighter crop doing away with the twig would be much better, methinks.
