I will be heading to HK/China in May and wondering if anyone interested in buying some new bodies or lenses. Some of the items can be from RM500-RM1K cheaper. Let me know which items u wld like to get and I try to get the price from my supplier.
Eg my Canon 350D was at least RM1K cheaper than best prices in KL at that time.

I got some queries via PM. I answer it here for the benefit of everyone:
In HK they sell 2 types of goods.
Local warranty - means Canon or Nikon (HK) will warranty the item for between 1 - 3 yrs depending on which model.
Water goods - slightly cheaper. Means no HK warranty but the shop will warranty for 1 year. Water goods simply means the shop owner sourced for the item himself from some cheaper countries and bypassed the local agents.
In both cases, Canon/Nikon M'sia will NOT honour the warranty cos the items are sourced cheaper outside M'sia and the local agents are deprived of a profit.
However, local warranty or water goods, they all came from same factory in Japan and are not fake goods.
Only YOU, yourself, can answer the question... does the cost-savings justify having a 1-year M'sian warranty? I can't answer that question for u.
If you ask me, I don't care about local warranty if I can save between RM500-1K. In any case, I can still bring back to the shop which I bought from within 1 year. And I can extend this service to you (to bring back your item to the shop).
If you are really afraid, stick to lenses. Chances of a lens breaking down within 1 year is very rare.

Found this website by a guy that lists street price of camera/lens/flash etc in HK.
Don't know how accurate/up-to-date it is...
Astroboy, is it accurate?

ok, pete is out on assignment, i m helping him to organised this. the following are the lenses that will be bring in.
Canon:
EF 16-35 f2.8 mk II -- RM4900
EF 85mm f1.2 -- RM7600
Nikon:
AFS 17-35 f2.8 -- RM4600
AFS 28-70 f2.8 -- RM4800
Carl Zeiss 25mm f2.8 ZF nikon AIS mount -- RM2600
Note that the price had already mark up a bit to cover the transportation, etc.
Warranty: NO WARRANTY, BUT DEFINITELY BRAND NEW!
we will of course check thoroughly before bring in, u had to check when collecting. of course, if u find any problem with the lens, u can reject it outright. SO, JUST TREAT THIS AS A BRAND NEW 2ND HAND PURCHASE.
Payment: 50% deposit into Pete bank a/c, balance to be paid when collecting the lenses. PM for the ac info.
TO all others who had enquire about this mass order, sorry, only these 4 lenses will be bringing in, as others not really worth the trouble.
And oso, the chances of lenses breakdown within 1yr is super rare, moreover these are the "king lens".
the camera body is quite cheap oso, but the chances of camera body failing is abit higher than the lens, so we dont want to take the chance. but if any1 willing to take the risk, PM me, i will give the pricing to u.
This MO will close on 22/5/2007, we will leave Malaysia on 24/5/2007, will be back on 28/5/2007.
any enquiries, pls do update here, i will try to answer as much as possible. thanks. :)
further, if the lens u order had no stock, we will of course refund to u in full.

i went there for the ICT Hong Kong Expo..last april..its darn cheap BTW...wayy more cheaper then Singapore or k.l..especially on 3rd party lens,ie; Sigma & Tamron. better go to kowloon district for cam stuff, the HK island is a big nono..the site for http://www.ygdragon.net/index.php?page=photo/cameraprice.htm is quite accurate, and if u go there yourself u can haggle about hk200-300 off from the listed price at ygdragon.
Anyway i bought my Siggy 30mm at Tin Cheung Camera..rm600 cheaper then the lowest price in malaysia..add up rm50 and i went back with a lens, an SB-600 and a happy face..huhu..
*Do convert rm in malaysia and all in HKD..u can save a lot! & go there when our RM a tad stronger compare to USD..cause HKD ties their currency with USD.
