hahaha no ... this is not a contest.

Just a heads up on this guy Terry Richardson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Richardson) (who's been mentioned in various blogs for shooting his own dong LOLs) He's the one who did the shoot and here's the page where you'll find a video of the Lohan shoot (http://aphotoeditor.com/2007/09/21/57/)

I thought it was amazing ... he shot with 2 compact film cams ... later learnt he uses Contax G2 & Yashica T4 ... must be hi-end compacts. Nevertheless, you'll notice the little flash on the compacts popping all the time in the video (hehehe ... off-cam flash? what's that?) and the harsh shadows on the pics :)

Further reading led to blogs comparing him with Juergen Teller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juergen_Teller) whom I came across a few weeks ago. Both use compacts and both love to do women (not sure about if JT's got pics of his own dong though) ... TR's american and JT's European.

Even further googling led me to this genre ... snapshot aesthetic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapshot_aesthetic) ... and a naughty** Sisley ad (http://www.bastardly.com/archives/2006/06/01/josie-marans-really-got-milk/) shoot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmKNhDuDlU0) (this links to the video) that "parodied" the UK's got milk campaign.

Enjoy the fruits of my surfing & let's hear it from the big-DSLR guys and the puny compact shooters hahahaha. Is it the equipment or is it the personality that the pros bring to the shoot? Of course, there's only one TR and only one JT ... I'm not saying everybody else can emulate them but ... I guess that's exactly the point , ain't it? :)

** hehe let's see how or if at all y'all see them pics as naughty ... brilliant I thought!

hooohoooo ... guess I'm on a Terry Richardson binge LOLs

Here's another video made by a Brazilian post-grad student showcasing TR's work and quotes from TR himself. Here's what the creator said in the comments:

whatever, i think you both didn't understand the theme. Terry Richardson is one of the most important fashion photographer nowadays. It's not only porn, it's fashion, it's art. And, if you don't undestand portuguese, above its written that this video was created as a post-grad's research.

Remember 18SX!! If you're not a consenting adult DO NOT WATCH! :D:D

ps: the music's perfect for the show :)
pps: sorry la pete, you have to scratch very hard till you get a good connection LOL

A lot of people in denial, what to do.

It's like race car drivers, they blame the car when they lose.

Different car makes more diff than diff camera.

Michael Schumacher couldn't beat us if he's in a Kancil and we are in a RUF :)

Sometimes equipment places limitations, sometimes creativity places them.

I think so too ... but reputation not easy to build up also ... respect but don't respect blindly lah like fanboys

ooooppps I'm sure you did ykgen.... it was definitely not my intention to re-preach this message .... was to share my current fascination & obsession with his work ... so fun & with a nice twist of humor (I think so lah)

Apologies if I misled anybody ... please don't let this degrade into one of those unending arguments we see elsewhere la

ST, sure lah, Schumacher / Kancil cannot outrun ST in a RUF mah ... eh that one Porsche on steroids ah?

But that was not the point leh ... you're like saying Joe Bloggs with a 1DsMk whatever definitely make a technically better photo than TR with his compacts ... though open to debate also :)

btw, don't understand your limitations statement lah ... can elaborate?

Question is why do you think TR lands so many hi-fashion & top drawer assignments with his brand of photography. Let's look into his images and examine that :)

Me? I think he's very consistent in his style ... very 70's. I think his sisley is a humorous parody of 70s bestial porn images cleverly timed with the got milk campaign. Notice his dorky burns and specs? haha bet he wears polyester pants.

How about y'all ... what does his images make you think?
