50mm and kit lens are enough to cover a chinese wedding. beside that you need a flashgun for indoor shooting indeed.

Hi there, I haven't shoot weddings before but regarding WB .... I guess it's good if you can shoot in RAW ... just incase anything goes wrong .. you can still adjust in PP ... I guess wedding is something very important and serious .. you don't wanna screw it up coz it's once in a lifetime :) Just shoot RAW for the WB problem ... others i'll leave to other members to comment hehe .. i have no experience in wedding ... cheers

indoor shooting?
u need a flashgun and know how to use it.
wide angle lens can become really handy.
50mm can be a limitation.
that's only the gear part......

Shooting RAW to solve WB problems is similar to jumping on a trampoline made of paper. If you think that way, it means having to edit your photos for WB which consumes time and money. The best is to try achieving the preferred and desired WB on camera and not having to worry later...

50mm can be a limitation.
The 50mm is too long kah?
What focal lenght would you suggest?

Read: It can be, but not necessarily...
=) Some people use 70-200 for weddings...so i dun think the 50 is too long...

50mm not too long if u have a BIG wedding hall.
like i said, it can be limitation, depends on your shooting condition.
u can use it for face shot. u can't go wrong with it.

I shoot with 17-50mm f2.8 and also 70-200 f4 IS with 580ex and 430ex
kit lens should be fine - as long as you have flashgun and know how to use it.

i would suggest kitlens + flashgun would be great a great combination for indoor.
50mm (prime/fast lens) got a limitation. It allow you to shoot in low light but you cannot cover group photos but you can shoot candid or potraits shoots
you may ask a "favour" from SA member here to help you up ;)
waiting for your masterpiece .............
For a wedding dinner, particularly those in dimly lit venues, I think an external flash is probably one of your must-haves ... unless your camera can handle ISO-3200 like Nikon D3 does :P
But what would I know lar, I've never shot weddings before :D
thanks guys for all the input. So it a MUST i have to buy a external flash.
Anyone know where about in KL giving best price for 580EX II or 430EX ? I want Canon Malaysia warranty unit
