Yeah I agree with qqmeng, should pose it against a darker background and also use a higher f stop.
You might also want to tidy up the burger for better compo :D
...Looking at it sort of make me hungry now.....must.... resist.... urge....

about the photo, i think lack of color variations, that's why it looks dull eventho the burger looks delicious! hehe.

if i'm not mistaken, this is a "street" burger right?
if it is, i think it'll looks better if u shoot the burger with the wrapper.
and slightly lowering f-value could improve it (f/3.5 would do i think).
that's all i can think of... but the burger with melted chese? waaaahh... *nose bleed*

LOL! no time to setup the background la, fast fast unwrap with some effort of arranging the wrapping paper, then take picture, and eat liao. I worry it will become cold so i off the fan some more, sweat like hell....LOL!

This made me recall the movie Falling Down, where the main character walks into a fast food joint after abandoning his car in the middle of a jam on the freeway & orders what looks like a yummilicious burger from the pics on the board. When it comes, the bun is flat, the pattie is thin etc etc & our hero goes berserk with his baseball bat. hahahaha

As a consumer, I think lack of reds (tom sauce) and greens (lettuce) & colors not strong enough. Another sugggestion - don't take it home wrapped, the bun gets destroyed! Better still, make your own and be your own food stylist cum photog :)

Yah the colour tone is a bit flat I think and overall a bit yellow-ish, can be a bit less noisy and boost contrast a bit too :D

conclusion: food photography not easy, need to setup nice nice, so that can build up appetite when looking at the picture :drunk:

Contrast. Not enough contrast between the background and the subject. As suggested here change the background but can you, in a publicplace? :D

I'd use curve to increase "shadow" and tweak a bit of "highlight", maybe that'll improve it a bit. :)

Seriously, a food artist would be better in your case.

Food photography has quite a number of pitfalls.

Your picture if it's going to be used for commercial work, it's going to be rejected outright.

1) Not enough red - as in tomatoes or tomato ketchup
2) Not enough green - as in vege
3) The bun looks crumpled
4) the cheese melted too much
5) background too white - already mentioned earlier in this thread.

Anyway, if the burger is in front of me...............CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!

If you want a reference, ol' Mac's product pix are more than enough to compare.

For a candid, spur-of-the-moment shot, it's fine. But if you wanna convey food message, then the immediate area surrounding the burger itself needs a little bit of work ... Sifu Jet said it well.
