Time for me to upgrade my tripod. Currently using a low angle capable cheap Sakure tripod. My camera and lens are getting sophisticated and the tripod won't support anything other than my kit 18-55mm kit lens.

I can't decide between Benro and Manfrotto.

Friends recommend Manfrotto 190x Pro. where it has a center horizontal pipe capability. but it weigh like 1.8kg? that is rather heavy to travel around. especially when you have to park your car at one spot and walk a long distance for shooting. I think the price should be around rm450.

Due to that, Benro became an alternative which it became quite a popular choice with their popular Carbon Fibre build. I like their Flexpod C series. but it cost around RM800+ without ballhead. With that price I might as well get the Manfrotto 190x Pro. But If i get the Manfrotto, I will need to compensate with the heavy weight tripod problem.

So is there any tripod that is
- Light weight
- flexible horizontal angle
- Durable (non alluminium)
and not very costly? say RM450 ?

I would definately get the Manfrotto 190xPro if its much lighter !

what tripod are you guys using?

I'm using 190Prob, the series before Prox, with 141RC Pan/Tilt head as I use it for landscape and HDR I prefer the accuracy.

I'm looking at a smaller CF tripod for carrying around though, perhaps a benro with a lighter ballhead.

The 190Prox is pretty light tho and very sturdy, it's a great choice if you're on a limited budget.

agree with ST... Ball heads are smaller and lighter but pan/tilt more accurate... If you using for landscape, i recommend you get pan/tilt head rather than ball

You want the best for what you have in mind? This is it. Manfrotto Explorer.

I beg to differ on the 'pan and tilt' head. I bought one and I never used it since the day I brought it home. It's bulky and I practically gave it away recently. :-D

Get a good ball head with Arca Swiss type clamp and you'll never never regret it. Because it'll last you for life. Something like a Markins.

RM450 just enough for one aluminium tripod(Benro) without ballhead.

agree with noordin on the pan/tilt.
it is bulky & heavy.
quite a hassle to pack also.
but since i want accuracy and more importantly i have no money, the pan/tilt is the alternative.
the ballhead that is in the same league (meaning same price range) can't hold the weight firmly.
you need some high-end ballhead to do that.
in the future, if i have extra money to burn, i would get one of those high-end ballheads.
but for now, i just go with it... :)

I practically gave it away recently.
noordin is so generous! :D

ST,

the model 190Prob, does it have the horizontal center pipe function?
how much does it cost? is it heavier than the X version?
