Well at least the snatch thief returned the IC and erm credit cards to him.. otherwise the hassle of going to the police station!!!
Even back pack on one shoulder is not safe these days.. must buy a chain to lock in the bag to the body then...

he cancelled all his credit card at that very moment he realized that his bag been snatched. and he has made police report after that. like u said, making a new IC, driving license and other documents can be troublesome! :)

THIS IS THE PROBLEMS WITH CRIMES IN MALAYSIA !!!
SNATCH THIEVES ARE ALWAYS REPEATING THEMSELVES FREELY & I FEEL THAT AUTHORITIES ARE NOT DOING ENOUGH. :0
WHATS THE USE OF PUTTING ON CCTVS ALL AROUND KLCC AND THEY CANT EVEN CAPTURE ANYTHING... :?

Just recently on Tuesday (16/10/07), there was an incident happened at my friend's Photo Shop at Kota D'sara. The culprit walk-in with a smoke on his hand.
My friend went to request him to get rid of the smoke and what he did was gave her a smash on her face and she straight away hit her face on the wall and goes knock-out. :boxer:
Then the *&^hole ransack everything in the Shop (Handphones, Compact cameras, Memory cards and etc.)
:( :ranting: How sad with our country.

Snatch thives are getting bolder. They even dare to do it in busy areas. Sorry to hear about your friend's plight, Zumi.
Assuming that we walk on the left side of a road as we should here in Malaysia, I wonder if slinging our bags on the left shoulder (as opposed to the right shoulder) will help as those scums will probably speed past us on our right side.
But most of us are right-handed :(
Maybe they should change the traffic system so that we drive, walk and sling our bags on the right side. :)

You should hand over the postage to the police, maybe can get some fingerprints or DNA if the sender licked the stamp, etc etc ... hmm, maybe I've been watching too much CSI ;)
Sorry for your friend's loss, noruazumi. But don't think that only ladies are targetted these days. Nowadays, even the guys are not spared from snatch thefts, especially when you're carrying notebooks, cameras, anything valuable. I've heard of a case where someone working in my nearby office had their notebook bags snatched while walking back to his/her car. A relative even had his gold chain snatched in front of public. Some come armed with parang, and if you try to fight back they'll hold no mercy with their parangs.
So scary to think of what the world is turning into these days :(

I read in yesterday's papers that the police are now divided into two camps. They must be too busy wacking each other instead of wacking the criminals. Such a sad state of affair......and they just got a pay rise!!!!!

sorry to hear about your friend's case, last weekend when i was walking around KLCC area, i saw a snatch thief on a motorcycle grabbed the handbag of an indian tourist couple right in front of KLCC. it happened so fast and the couple were just screaming away.
and then after that about 10 minutes later, while i was walking in front of Zouk nearby KLCC, another foreign "mat salleh" couple got robbed by a motorcycle snatch thief. One of them tried to run and catch the thief but fell down. mind you this one was in front of zouk and there were a lot of people that saw the snatch thief but none could do anything as the motorcyclist was very fast.
this two incident paints a bad image of our country as tourist came to visit our country but got robbed instead. one robbery is bad enough, but two in such a short period is a real sad case.

aiseh.... so sad to hear what's going on in Malaysia right now. :(
but sometimes, we let our guard down and not being careful when we are out there.
just be careful guys!
i think now everyone should buy a pepper spray for personal protection.
eventhough snatch thieves can do their 'work' very quickly while on a kapcai, but at least we can defend ourselves from those walking robbers rite? :smashfreak:
i bought a few of these sprays and gave them to my younger sisters and asked them to put the sprays on their key chains so that they'll bring the spray with them every where they go. cannot take any risk nowadays maa..
since its difficult & dangerous (illegal?:?) to bring a knife or any other sharp weapon in public (what more of a small gun..) then maybe pepper spray is a good alternative. just to be safe.. & for me, i always have a cota (that short wooden stick that FRU use, found one in the store..:rasta:) ready in my car, rite under the driver seat.. Not to threaten other driver whatsoever haa..i have it just in case anything unexpected happens..unarmed car hijackers, etc...but i'm still wondering whether it is an offence for me to have this cota in the car..
OT..sorry, hehe
other than that, a beautiful fiberglass hockey stick under my bed & a nice shiny mizuno golf club (No. 3) hidden behind the front door of the house in case of unexpected 'guest' outside the door:D
unless, we r willing to smack the robbers' head with our D40, 400D, D3 or 1D mark III, along with the long white canon telephoto lens intact then, maybe a pepper spray is unnecessary:D
