hi guys,
this friday, i'll be in KL/PJ to send my D50 for cleaning at Nikon PJ.
i don't want to make my trip all the way to KL/PJ just for that <30mins cleaning.
so i think i want to go & get myself a tripod but i don't know much about tripod.
as far as i know, many ppl recommend Manfrotto 190ProB.

i hope that u guys can help me with this.
currently i'm using Nikon D50 but i plan to switch to Nikon D200 in June/July.
i would really appreciate if u guys can give me some heads up coz i'm not very familiar with KL/PJ market.
ppl recommend Desmond (YL Camera, Pudu Plaza) is the best place to shop.
i wish i can give more inputs but seriously, i have no idea which model & where to get it.
my budget is somewhere RM600++ (is that enough to get Manfrotto? :? )
thanks in advance guys... i really appreciate your time!

I personally have a 190Prob, it's an excellent tripod.

The main dealer for Manfrotto is in SS2 and is called Eng Tong (it's in the list below).

I think the current price, the 190Prob and an entry level head will cost you around RM550.

The price of the 190x is around RM370 without a head so the total should be around the same.

The 190x is much more convenient to use, but seems less sturdy.

The 190Prob is a real workhouse and several members who own it here in SA have put it through a serious beating and it still keeps going.

Mine for example has been checked into cargo luggage several times without a padded bag and it's just fine!

You can checkout the list of recommended malaysian photoshops (http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100) here.

I personally recommend J-One in Amcorp mall, he has a very good relationship with SA members and can probably give you a great price if you go through us. He doesn't carry much stock though so you might have tolet him know in advance.

Yes, me too eyeing the 190ProB (56cm/145cm/1.9kg/5kg)... but I think the 190x is a later model?

Am planning to couple the 190ProB with the 488RC2 (0.67kg/8kg).

The total weight for these 2 babies will be 1.9+0.67=2.57kg !!
