Organising image collections

Hi all

If anyone knows any good reference material for categorising and organising images I would love to know.

Yeah I'd like to know too ... I organise mine by the date I took the shots ie the date is embedded in the folder name + a keyword

I'd also like to hear how y'all archive your pics ... cd or dvd? external harddisk or online file stores? Raw files + xmp or final edited files? And any other considerations?
