You'll notice he extensively uses ring flash too.
He uses some big hot/strip lights too.

yeah thanks ST .... saw the heads-up last week on Strobist's blog. Amazing stuff.
Y'all should also have a look at his European honeymoon pics .... taken with Leica M6 I believe .... hahaha I came away thinking he's quite a regular guy after all ... none of the high-pass USM pp on those pics. Oh, you have to go to his blog to see those.
While you're there check out his buddies' webs too .... neil visel & something kuhn .... similar stuff but not as extreme in the high-pass USM pp :)

Ring Light or beauty dish goes hand in hand with fashion style photography, you can't manage without it..
For normal portrait softbox/brolly/other normal modifiers is ok.

An amazing talent. He uses the everyday studio equipment to get his shots.

Digicolor sells a cheap studio light beauty dish, I think you can get decent one from Eng Tong.
I guess most of the lighting shops carry beauty dishes, but not for speedlights.
And I haven't seen any ring-lights.
And Jln Ipoh places do wedding photos....not fashion. If you check those fashions shooters like Ted or Studio ROM you'll see they have it.

er, my beauty dish is an el cheapo Foven knock offs that fits one of my Bowen light nicely (nay, it does not fit my older Bowens light lah!), bought from Directphoto last year.
I can't afford ring lights lah, as it needs a powerpack to er, powers it thus costing waaaaay too much plates of rice & chappattis.

beauty dish - you can always make a homemade dish although the real thing would be much better. :)
