Well for me I find the composition rather odd and the background very distracting, if the subject is the saxophone there is too much space above it and below it.
The shot is also a little soft due to the slow shutter speed and the saxaphone and foreground is a bit underexposed due to the camera exposing for the highlights of the lamp on the wall.
The pic also seems slightly skewed to the right.
I believe it's an interesting concept, and may suite black and white well.

Everytime I look at the picture, my eyes are drawn to the lamp's light on the wall. Should have cropped that out.
Maybe there's a reason for not doing so ?

I appreciate how you were trying to play with dof but it doesn't work for me. At first glance I thought the sax was a little toy motorbike lying on its side onthe table ...
ps: I'd suggest less foreground, a more interesting bg for context, sax diff angle, bigger & or focus on a feature that says saxaphone ... my 2 -3 sen la
Well bro hanuman.. I don't really like the angle. Maybe showing off more of the body would be better..
As ST said, I would like to second that, that the image is soft, background is distracting and the light is overexposed
One thing interested me though.. Do you know how to play the sax? I'm interested in how much a new Alto Sax costs.. Please do let me know

Took it in haste as the family wanted to leave. I'm still learning my gear so a lot of test shots not worrying about composition for now.
Personally I dont play the sax at all but have wished I could in my earlier days. A student alto sax (beginner) runs aroung USD$300 and up. That kind of money I rather spend it on lenses or lighting equipment.
Thanks to all for you input. :D

Oh...! Just shoot shot :D
Then, do away with the larger background, especially that wall light, by going in closer, trying a few different angles of approach.
Try playing with diff apertures and shutter speeds at the same time, in addition to bumping the ISO.
A much closer approach, would also highlight reflections on the surface of the instrument, makes for interesting shots.
Jes' me thoughts :D
