Sigma 18-200mm OS Nikon Mount | Simple Review

Just bought the lens... The VR is damn expansive... saved about RM800 by taking this lens...

Never had long experience with the VR... used to borrow from friend. The build quality, IMHO far better than VR... and a bit heavier than VR which I like.

Heard that panning was difficult with Nikkor 18-200 when VR on, is it true? However I'm able to take panning with OS on.

I was wondering about the Sigma's ability to pan. Looks like it works. On my short test of the Nikon 18-200mm VR. Surprisingly, I found the Sigma's OS slightly better than VR. And on top of that, pictures taken with the Sigma looks sharper(using jpegs). Only tested for short while ...but it gave that impression... and yeah... save quite a lot too. So far have not encountered incompatibility issues with D40 and SB800.

I only can compare with Nikkor 18-70mm AFS which I owned... Sigma HSM is as fast as the Nikkor AFS or maybe faster.

:-D Sigma is infamously known for their focusing problem. like a copy of 70-300mm Sigma I had.

btw whats the retail price for Sigma 18-200 OS and the Nikon 18-200 VR?

Most of the reviews on the internet whether by professional or users in forums are from the Canon camp. They're really impress by it coz Canon has no equivalent lens in that range. The only let down is no HSM for Canon mount.

The Market price range btw RM1700++ - RM1800++ for Nikon mount. Heard you can go as low as RM1650 for canon mount.

Nikkor 18-200 VR latest price was RM2500++

Did you bargain... coz that too pricey... ceilling price for this lens is RM1800.
