I read some where that Nikon D200 can 'control' a few units of SB-800 speedlights one go. Is this true?

Means no need to get the SU-800 is it?

Yes it's true.

SU-800 is more reliable and it means you don't have to use the pop-up flash.

Better still get Pocket Wizards for wireless!

D80's pop up flash can be a commander too.

BTW..what's the advantage of pocket wizards over SU800?:?

Noordin, better if you do MO from DirectPhoto (Steven, Ken ... free advert for you :)) ... they told me their first batch habis like kueh panas ... RM700 only. With amazon, the freight will add on to the cost.

Ok, the D200's built-in flash can be the trigger (commander, right?). Next question is, can I set different settings for individual flash via the D200, i mean without using the SU-800 or pocket wizard?

Hope my question is clear.... :)

Here's a behind the scene look of me testing out the Nikon SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander in bright sunshine while on an assignment.

Nikon CLS work, with certain limitations.

It works only in line of sigh principle. At certain distances (depending on ambient light intensity) the IR in the sunlight will 'drown out' the IR signal from the SU-800.

Ditto the flash from the pop up on camera flash.

Nikon SB-800 diffused with umbrella.
Nikon SB-600 as keylight zoomed out to 50mm act as key light.
The human light stands are optional extras

I've since invested in some Pocket Wizards.....
