oh boy... your friend really wants a lot of things. haha.
the only lens i can think of is the 18-200VR as suggested by ST.
careful tho, the 18-200VR is "dust vacuum", based on my friend's experience. :)
Sigma 18-200 might be fit in ur friend's budget..:D

y not consider 18-135mm DX lens? i think this should meet your friend budget, and future upgrade since he does not have enough budget

Go get the new Sigma 18-200 OS. Almost similar to Nikkor 18-200 VR and cheaper too! :D

Yeah, I agree with you. I quickly disposed mine when I got it as kit lens, very hard to hand-hold for sharp pics at 135mm long without using high shutter speed. ;)

Don't look any further than 18-200VR. It's THE walk around lens for Nikon :)

For potrait : Tamron 17-50 f/2.8
Walkabout lense : Tamron 18-250 or Sigma 18-250 OS (if cannot live without optical stabilizer)

it is depend on your budget.
of course if your budget allow, just go for 18-200 VR
else the next choice is 18-70,
and the last choice is 18-135,
the problem is if u choose 10-70, the limitation is there,
if 18-135, no VR on the lens, so all is depend on your budget.

what about a 28-500mm zoom lens with image stabiliser and 8mp camera that can shoot video as well, for half the price of the 18-200VR lens?
When I go makan angin that's the only camera I carry, Lumix FZ-18 :tongue_roll:
