You have the right idea - you captured the moments. Only the sharpness need to be improved, I feel. If you had shot in RAW maybe PP on Photoshop would help.

the 1st photo. the one girl holding the bunch of flower 1.
i think the the girl + the flower shud be the whole object. then u can bokeh off the background.

what lens were u using? 50mm ? even the flower is blurred.
(she very pretty btw :-D)

aha. 50mm hard to avoid ar.
the bokeh too powerful. just need stand further.
one of my fav lens ^^

Malay wedding or such event usually alot alot of people inside the house. very very crowded. I find it hard to use 50mm cause not very flexible in the enviroment.

indoor photography. I use kit lens only. Nikkor 18-55mm. with speedlight SB800 then no problem in low light already. So I didn't go use 50mm.

I only use 50mm at early shot before all the crowd comes in. I shoot bokeh images like the wedding present .. right .. shoes. this and that.

when crowd and relatives starts to come in. then need to use flexible lens. If got 18-200 would be great. But I don't have that yet. so only use 18-55mm. Other recommended lens also include 18-70 or 24-70 :-D some mid range zoom.

Example this photo:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2340/1761782388_f8788b4918_o.jpg

you wouldn't imagine how many people they can squeeze into that tiny living room. There just isn't anywhere to stand and position myself to take photo.
This is just the right side of the living room. My lens wasn't enough to cover the left side where there are like 15 more people sitting down. lol

thats my style ar. If got more lens like wide angle 12-24mm or fisheye. then different story already :-D but I only got basic standard lens only

I am sure other SIFU will give more advice.

I agreed. Some time, with 50mm lense, I just shooted few people from the crowd. But sometimes I used kit lense also. Especialy for family photo :D
Thanks Lime, I will post few more after I attend some weddings after this. Hope that you will spend some times again to see my next photo :D

For me, you've the right idea and style in your first shot. I like it that the flowers are blurred, however I would've preferred you opening up all the way to f/1.8 or bigger on the eyes! Composition adjustment a bit and perfecto :D

Were you using D40/D50? The groom shot to I think focused on the guy next to him or behind him... rather than him :?

White balance is a real issue here

Yep, malay weddings are really packed but one of my favorite shooters stateside uses a f/1.2 lens and opens up to its max aperture on almost all her shots (even for some group shots). Our eyes are naturally big aperured and for me it is more natural that shots are taken that way

You're right :D Actually I really overlooked on the white balance matter.
Now I try to improve my photo shoot skill step by step. :)
So, normally, which lens is considered as your favorite when it comes to akad/wedding photo shoot? Oh.. by the way, I am using D50

The most used lens for me at a wedding would be the EF24-70mm f/2.8. The EF24-105mm f/4 IS does appear to be the better choice due to its extended range but the aperture is rather important for me.

My most favorite lens is the 85mm f/1.2 though :D
