sometimes, i find especially old nikon 50mm 1.4 or 1.2 are sharper then current ones at max aperture, just suffered from severe coma, latter ones less coma but also less sharper. That's why 58mmf1.2 Noct uses asph. lens to compensate the coma while retaining the resolution, so may be my 55 f1.2 is as sharp as 58noct, just more coma....


By the way, there is a earlier version AI 50mm f1.8 with long berrel design like Ai50mmf2. Anyone got one?? as relatively rare, I am quite interested about its performance , it is the immediate successor of 50mm f2 which is real good lens ( I think better than current 50f1.8 which is derived from 501.8 E lens).

The reflection in my eye is from my 22" Samsung Monitor displaying Shutter Asia :D
