I read somewhere that a MyVi can be replaced by a turbocharged engine from Daihatsu. Has anyone done that before?

How is the performance of the basic 1.3 MyVi anyway? Is the auto version as sluggish as some people say it is?

Yeah the Mira turbo engine, same can be done for Kelisa and Kenari and Kancil.

Engine is L200.

Myvi only you can get the K3-VET engine.

:tongue_roll: Daihatsu did got stock Turbo engine...from Daihatsu Boon X4 (a.k.a Sirion Turbo).

Daihatsu Boon X4 is powered by a turbocharged intercooled 936cc engine instead of the 1.3 liter intercooler turbo K3-VET Daihatsu YRV engine. This engine is called the KJ-VET, which is a 1.0 liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine making 133hp at 7200rpm and 133Nm of torque at 3600rpm. Very nice and not too over the top power figures for a car that size and weight, and it’s linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. It also comes with full-time 4WD. Daihatsu gave the Daihatsu Boon X4 a bonnet air scoop to feed cool air to it’s top-mounted intercooler

the auto a bit sluggish or maybe i'm so used to drive manual where i got full control of everything. but somehow i felt, auto got better fuel consumption than manual. that's only based on comparison between mine & my friend's auto. or maybe my ECU is playing crazy. :?

in terms of build-quality, any complaints so far? is it as bad as proton waja for eg where the power window knobs fall off etc?

so far, i didn't noticed any faulty parts. it is just the QC is not so comprehensive. in my case, i have changed my brake caliper due to factory defect. safety was not jeopardized but it just produced annoying sounds when driving over bumpy roads. perodua replaced them for free coz it is under warranty.

other than that, the paint is only one thin layer. mine is black color. small scratches can be easily spotted. better get white or other color.

any comparison between the X4 and YRV engine? in terms of overall performance? as far as i know, the myvi is using engine similar to YRV which is the K3-VE minus the "T" (turbo) correct? i've experienced downgrading engine capacity before and it is so difficult to get PUSPAKOM approval.. from a 1000cc kelisa engine to a 660cc (4cyl) turbo engine in my kelisa and they really give me a hard time getting my car endorsed.. they say they don't care so much on downgrade percentage but they were worried it would be under powered.. oh boy they were so wrong.. :D sold the car already and now i'm thinking of adding some "juice" in my wife's myvi.. hehe.. how about bolt on? anyone done it already? or better to just swap the engine with either the X4 or YRV? not planning to turn it into a rocket ship! just some extra power for overtaking and stuff.. and also keeping the tranny auto as my wife will be driving it.. :D
