Hi guys, i need some help here about how to configure this flash to my entry level cam:redface:...

I was adviced to use P mode. So once i put it on the cam, it's start having different mm (with the head pan down) when i press on "zoom" buttom (24,28,35,50,70,80,105mm)...sometime i get 24mm with a square box beside it ? What does this mean ?
The "M" letter appear i would assume it refer to "Manual mode", am i right ?
At 24mm there will be a little figure show below it...indicating 9.0mm or 6.0mm...then from 28-50mm i got 9.0mm ? Last from 70-105mm i got 13mm ?
What does this mean ?
If i pan the head up...i will cable to get " --mm ". What does this mean ?
To certain extend the display will keep blinking ? What does this mean ?
Once i pull the diffuser out, seem the setting is locked to certain range only ??
On the camera, ISO was set at 100.
My other questions :-
With external flash, the EV setting on the cam is not longer working but instead the EV on the flash only, is that right ?
I did try play on Manual mode on the cam with different combination AV/TV value and even EV show under exposure but pic display out seem doesn't look under exposure ?? What does this mean ?
Ps : I am trying with kitlens...really need to get sometime "average" workout since am waiting to try shooting at my cousin wedding dinner sometime this week
One last, it seem i never see the "F" (i would assume that's the AV) on the flash, after whole day playing with it ??
