View Full Version : Notes - My First Macro

This was my first attempt at Macro, back in the day, before I had an SB-800 and before I had a Manfrotto.
I was using a crappy mini-tripod and an Ikea uplighter, which gave me a weird colour cast.
Definitely a lesson in understanding lighting, DoF and having a sturdy tripod!

Money notes are an excellent way to start macro though as they have a lot of fine detail, and they don't fly around like insects.

macro on notes really a good idea!! never thought about it before.
should try using my reversed 50/1.8. :D
these are sharp shots, ST.
perhaps u could iron the notes before u shot them to make the notes flat.
i thought it was lens distortion when i look at them. :D

Thanks alan, could be sharper though I think. Yah always good to practice with money notes due to their fine grained detail.

Yah you can try it with reversed 50mm as they don't really move you can practise the setup.
They could be sharper I think if I'd ironed the notes like you said so DoF was better controlled. I was taking the shots with one hand and holding then down with the other hand LOL

Nah just travel a lot, so always end up with a lot of currencies..usually USD first though, as it can be changed in all countries, some money changes in foreign lands won't accept our dear RM.
