I got my Hoya R72 and not sure how to use it. Anyone with experience on Nikon D50 and Hoya R72 ?
:-D using kit lens btw.
All I got was very red images. though I use the custom WB. it still turns out to be red. Or was it suppose to be red? and I have to post process it to turn it into something else?

There are 2 parts you need to do in IR.
1st part: Setting the WB
you need to custom WB WITH your filter screwed into your lens 1st. wait till one sunny day, point at one big patch of green grass and set it as your WB.
take out tht filter and compose your photo (I normally compose using Manual Focus when it comes to IR) and re-screw your filter back and shoot.
2nd part: PP
after loading your photo, i ll see weird color...no worry... all you have to do is.. adjust the contrast and level if your images are underexposed due to the filter, then, in channel mixer, select Red Channel and set red percentage to 0% and blue to 100%. Now select Blue Channel, set blue percentage to 0% and red to 100%. DONE!!!
hope it helps.
