I have not been doing macros for a while now. I thought for a start I shall revisit some of my old shots. Some of these have not been processed before and some I have already shared in another forum but have now been re-processed.

Me too! My macro gears have been in cold storage for quite a while now. I hope it'll see some action soon. Thanks Gojira.

Minimal crop...almost full frame. I must be about 4-6in away. This dragonfly was so heavily weighed down by the wetness that it wasn't going to budge. Anyhow it is still possible to go that near to an active, dry dragonfly. I used my 105VR + Raynox lens for that image.

Thanks raclette.

I used my 105VR plus/minus the Raynox CM3500. Thanks Noruazumi.

Keep drooling Raynox fans. LOL. The Raynox is very convenient - just snap it on and it is ready to go.

Thanks foxxy! I read that some people actually spray them with water to take shots of them.

Yeah, talk about luck! I could actually hold this chap. Notice the folded wet wings in #2? Luckily this fella started to fly when it dried up.

dtbh, do you know what is the price for the 105 VR in malaysia? ..Maybe we could create a thread in the nikon gears section listing prices for nikon lenses.

sorry for the off topic:redface:

I had been planning to do that, but it takes quite a bit of effort hehe.

Anyway the lens should be around RM2700 if I remember correctly.

A good alternative is the Tamron 90mm, which is just as sharp, but without VR and IF, costs around RM1400. I chose to buy the Tamron 90mm and the SB-800 for the same price as the 105VR.

You are so kind, Nonblood. Thanks.

I actually have a tough time trying to get sharp macro images. Remember I have to manual focus and my most important lenses (my eyes) aren't too good nowadays...had to take many insurance shots to be sure. :D
