I just got my CM-3500 2 days ago. It comes with 3 different magnifying filters. 6X, 12X and 24X. The magnification is depended on the lens that you are using. I will put the rough ratio for each picture.

It is hard to focus with the filter on, you have to switch on to manual focus. Yet, it is not quite clear viewing thru the viewfinder, sometime you thought you had got it on focus but it was out. Probably is my eyesight, age is catching up.

Here are the results taken on a little ladybug of 4mm long. Tested using 200mm lens and flash. All of these pics were adjusted with contrast and sharpening only.

#1, Just 200mm micro lens at 1:1 macro magnifying

8930

#2, Lens + Raynox 6x filter at 1.25:1

8931

#3, Lens + Raynox 12x filter at 2.5:1

8932

#4, Lens + Raynox 24x filter at 5:1

8933

#5, Lens + reversed 50mm

8934

when i first use the raynox i also got this problem. Boost higher iso and use some fill flash will help a lot. By the way, you might need smaller aperture also, to get decent dof.

It's probably because once you put it on youve got a fixed focusing distance that's alot closer than you're used to. After a while you get used to having to get up so close I suppose.

Welcome to the 5X club Caveman :)

Remember to do Focus Stacking. That should settle lots of sharpness issue when gigantic magnification is achieved.

I wonder what happens if I stack this with my MP-E65 :p
