Hi

I am looking for a hardcasing for my stuff (camera/etc) for the purpose of transporting/ travelling (airlines and offroad jaunts). Anyone here who had expereince are welcomed to share their valuable experience. TIA.

The type of casing I may want to consider are mainly the Pelican casing.

Anyone here familiar with this type opf casing (not necessarily this brand) ? Pls Pls

I am planning to carry 1 camera body + 3 lenses ( 2 mid zooms + 1 long zoom ) + 1 flash + accessries box + other space for others too (if possible)

secondly, how do you carry this box thru the airlines?. check in or carry into cabin ?

Thanks for sharing.

Those casings are very heavy. If you want to use them for carrying your stuffs around, other than for checking-in, you're gonna regret.

Unless you have big lenses that can't be hand carried, it's not wise to have the "Pelican" type cases. You'd be better off getting a Lowepro Mini-Trekker or Reporter and hand carry into the plane.

If you're really serious about those casings, try Keat at Jalan Pudu. They carry many brands in different sizes. Raymond sells them to the pro so he's the best person to answer your queries.

Hi Noordin,
Thanks for the info.

I intend to use the hard casing mostly for camping trips in my 4x4s which may also includes some protection against serious judder and falling over offroads. At the moment, I am using the Lowepro Rover AW which , imo not providing enough space and serious protection of my gear. I need to constantly watchout for the bag to be in the clear (not being trampled by other heavy stuff in the car). Thus the reason for hard casing type of transport.

The inflight cabin is the other consideration (not so hi prioroty) which is a good thing to have as well.

In any case, thanks for the head up.

I am not a pro photog. How do the pro transport their gear around?..Any pro photog here?.

Not sure whether they offer such protection as hard casing, but what about this: http://www.thinktankphoto.com/

hi
seems like they don't have specific hardcasing but the baggage looks like a good travel bag, nonetheless..

Time to visit Keat , I guess.. ;)
