You are in serious need of MT-24EX...
Takes some training, but the Handheld 580EX seems to be doing its job at the moment.
MT-24EX got to wait for a while.. No $$$ yet

Yeah youre last 3 shots are kinda blurred, lol. I thought you'd need the ringlight because at 5X you're really close to the subject, and normal flashes down bend down enough? :?

That's why I strongly recommended him to get the MT-24ex.... he really need that with his mp-e65...... If he doesn't have budget, than he should lend me the lens since I already got the flash:P
Come on la friend, with >2x magnification, you are seriously need the mt-24ex.... :tongue_roll:

Hehe for now, based on my observation of Caveman's Nikon Wireless Flash Commander unit, the whole front element + flash Combo seems a bit too big and bulky, not very ideal for my style of shooting.
I'm going against the conventional method of using a tripod, as I love nothing more than Freehand setup. The MPE-65 is at the minimal requirement of insect macro in terms of working distances. So, being rather close, I would say, the additional twin lights at this moment only gets in the way of branches and leaves.
But but but but but, if there is a chance for a test with the MT-24EX I would surely have a go. As for now, its camera on right hand , flash on left hand :P

Hehe, my 580EX is handheld, i'm now roughly at 2-3x magnification, When i find the sweet spot for 5x , I would surely enlighten/ update this thread.

LordV is lightspeeds ahead of me. And he is a master of FocusStacking. Which works it way through the MPE-65's main weakness.

Worry not, there are some limitations.
1) Its Fixed Focus , hmm.. how to describe this, its minimal magnification is 1:1, can cannot focus to infinity. Focusing is done by moving your body back and forth till the ideal sharpness. Turning the dials would result in larger / smaller magnification.
2) You got to pre-order this, I got this from YL as a result of someone not collecting his/her pre-order for a month (FFK blessing :p)
Yeah..he and Lord V...they're macro gods!

I increase the shutter speed to 1/120 already 1/60 was really taking its toll on my picture sharpness
Not the screen. I could not fit the FRAME
