I just love this ... the relationship between the elephant and his/her mahoot. I'm really new in photography. Please give me some pointers.

Cheers

Try USM to get the image sharper. The compositon is good.

Moving it a bit more to the right to include more of the pachyderm's eye & ear would help whilst doing away with the tree in the background, but it may also reduce the feeding take  decisions, decisions ... ! :D

Prefer to include the trunk as well, but we make do :D
Too bad about the cap tho'

Yeah, agree to include the trunk ... if not the elephant's eyes... side view of this pic will be better than this angle from the person's back. try standing further away to fit in the whole elephant and the man would be perfect. :rasta:

Was this taken in Thailand?

thanks Noordin and alan for your pointers but like i said my level is lower than a novice ... errr... what's USM ?

galee .. thanks. I just upgraded myself from a compact camera user to a SLR user a couple of weeks ago. This photo was taken in Bali.

No lar, don't mean that
Just voicing opinion :D And I understand all too well the times when we are presented with a 'take it or leave it' shot no matter how much better we wish it to be :D

Keep on shootin'!

here's my suggestions... since the elephant is tall & majestic, I'd go for a vertical shot ... also agree with galee about including at least an eye - ever notice how we black out eyes to make faces unrecognisable? eyes somehow define a face. have fun!
