Creative Light System is Nikon term..
Canon wise, you still can do the similar thing. Not sure the right term Canon crowned it.

Or maybe its originally "Canon Lighting System" ? :D
Syed - as with any other canon bodies that i know of, you would need to use either a 580EX or a STE2, or alternatively try out radio triggers

One 580EX on the body can control three remote flashes independently (430EX, 550EX, 580EX).... ST-E2 can only control 2 group of flashes.. That's what I've read somewhere....
I myself using 580EX on body to remotely trigger 550EX...

a proper terminalogy can be - off camera flash photography.
CLS is a Nikon terminalogy for creative lighting system.
equipment pending, off camera flash can be achieve as follows :-
01. canon camera, a ste-2 trigger and 1 or more flash (any models but for example sake, 580EX)
insert ste-2 onto your flash shoe on ur camera. switch it on.
on your flash, switch it to "slave" mode.
make sure the "line of sight" is there between ur ste-2 and your 580EX.
02. canon camera, using 1 580 EX as a "master" and 1 or more 580EX as "slave"
insert 1 580EX onto your flash shoe on camera, set the flash to "master"
the other 580EX, set it to slave.
make sure the "line of sight" is there between ur 580EX
when in doubt, please read your manual because the instructions are very specific.
anything from 580EX and below - you can't use any 3rd party remote trigger to fire your flash remotely - unless you mod it on the flash or use to mount your flash on a flash shoe that is attach to a trigger receiver.
580 EX II - now there is a "pin hole" in the unit where you can attach a 3rd party trigger receiver.
40D - you can set your settings for 580EX II within your camera. only for 580 EX II though.
i use a ste-2 and 3 580EXs.
