3 weeks wait for it to get repaired.

DELL does it on the spot or NBD (Next Business Day)

Lenovo/IBM takes around 1-2 days

HP as well.1-3 days depends, but less than 1 week and definately not 3 weeks !!

Moral of the story - cheap doesnt mean good.:D

Dell is the cheapest of the lot. They have this policy where they will pay you RM200 if you can find a computer with similar specs that is cheaper than theirs.:bouncing: There is a saying cheap not good, good not cheap but my experience with Dell is very good so far.

dell620 is for corporate use lar, almost RM5,000 a piece, but standard 3 years warranty on site.

all peripherals are detachable unlike the Dell Inspiron.

Con : It bundled with Vista. Compaq support site do not provide much drivers for Win XP. Can be source from external site, tedious and time consuming.

Im using COMPAQ Presario M2000, which comes with AMD Turion64 and ATi graphics. bumped it up with 2gb memory and its been running non stop -even when i am asleep of away to work. Heat probs? None. Heck i even dropped it once, and all i got was 2 broken plastic bits on the base cover (those small thin plastic feature meant for ventilation slots). Very happy with it so far.:jester:

When I leave my coy, I will need to get a notebook to continue what I do... surf the net and PP my pix. Price best not exceed $3k... with dual-core, 2GB RAM... AMD (less heat?) or Intel? and yes... the brand war!!

Am reading up on specs now... 2 more months to go... DELL???

go for either compaq or HP.
compaq is cheaper though... (some models are identical with HP in terms of outlooks)

Check out Compaq V3218TU. I think this model will meet your requirement and budget.....and I am using it :D

Among all Dell is the only brand which has SLA ( service level agreement) of next business day ON - SITE Warranty replacement for parts and labor included. Comes with either 1 or up to 3 years extension.

Your Dell machine kaputs today, you call them later, they will come to your House or Office within 24 hours. No other brand can match them.

Agree with leslie.

I remembered my Dell monitor went kaput, called them up and they arrive next day.

Technician check check hardware, confirmed it's hardware failure, they replaced a unit on the spot.

This is only service mah.... unlike those that you buy from lowyat, need to wait months to get it repaired !
