Taken at Carpenter St, Kuching, near the Old Bazaar. This is the first time I've seen these fellows at work and you'd be quite amazed at their dexterity and accuracy in shaping sheets of aluminium and brass into lamps, cooking pots and such.

The small cone-shaped objects the man in the second photo is making are actually containers for dice-rolling....he's trying to keep up with the demand for CNY.....something to do with crabs and prawns....hehehe...

I have to say gojira's B&W photo are very very rare to be 'seen'...hahaha...Btw i like your B&W conversion...their skin tone and texture...i like them.
Wah, goji's first post with pictures! The BW conversion is nice. Channel mixer?

Hmm...I did the conversion last night...I think I started off with channel mixer but found that it was iffy to use so ended up using grayscale conversion, really whacked it in shadows and highlights and finally added more contrast.
I must say that this conversion was inspired by JackJack's Pudu Jail pics. Wanted to convert these pics for quite a while but too lazy.

I like #1 where it shows more of the blacksmiths surroundings...with his tools of trade all over the place..

Very nice, Goji, very nice - especially #2, love the lightplays.
I think yann means 'contrast', to which I agree.

Oooooh....so he means that it's very contrasty?
Yup...I love contrasty B&W photos! Hmm...but maybe mine are bordering on PS overload...any further and you'd get funny effects.
