Just got back 2 days ago from an 11 day holiday to Australia. It was my first time there, and it was a very pleasant one. Australians are incredibly friendly, and there's a lot that we can all learn from them.

Spent 5 days in Tasmania, then fly off to Melbourne and spent 6 days there. Weather was perfect; nice and sunny, while still being windy. Not too hot, not too cold. Here's some pictures from Tasmania.

What Tasmania's known for, their Tasmanian Devils.

Some sleeping skinks.

Kangaroos were everywhere at this wildlife park! Here's an albino with a child.

It being summer, these guys were everywhere!

Some landscape shots, from about Tasmania.

Tesselated pavements, from the southern coast of Tasmania. Naturally formed rocks, mysteriously in rectangles.

Blue blue skies.

11358

Port Arthur prison, or what's left of it in the lower right.

Sandy bay harbor in Hobart.

And a bay at Port Arthur.

There's really no difference between kangaroo and wallaby except in size right?

It's hard to believe that those rectangular rocks are works of nature! Awesome!

There was a proper explanation on site about how the rock formation formed but i forgot. :P

Haha okay I'll admit I didnt know what a wallaby was till I hit google a few minutes before. Perhaps it is one, it was smaller than a full sized kangaroo.

Really cool! I found some explanation here..not that I understand any of it, LOL.

Tessellated Pavement
The Tessellated Pavement is an inter-tidal rock platform - a common enough coastal landform. But here an unusual set of geological circumstances have resulted in a rare landform. The flat-lying siltstone was cracked by stresses in the Earth’s crust, possibly between 160 million years ago and 60 million years ago. The resulting cracks (joints) are seen as three main sets, one aligned to the north- northeast, a second to the east-northeast and the third to the north-northwest.

This jointing, exaggerated by processes of erosion, has created the ‘tiled’ appearance. When seawater covers the rock platform, fragments of rock are carried away. Near the seaward edge of the platform, sand is the main cause of the erosion. When combined with wave action the erosional process causes ‘loaf’ or ‘pan’ formations.
