Replica Canon battery

Hi guys, I try to purchase an extra battery; but the original battery very expensive. So I have search around, then find out the replica battery is much more cheaper then original Canon NB-2LH battery. The brand of replica battery is Phottix with provide 900mAH, does this safe to used in EOS400D. Not only this, I heard the replica battery might not able to charge using original charger. Is this true.

I got my self a NB-2LH 900mAh for my 350D as well.. i've heard from other users that it works fine so decided to get one. I bought the first one but when tried charging it, the red-charging light came on for 10 seconds then went off..
I checked with the shop i bought it from and took my charger there to show him the problem..he replaced the battery and gave me a new one and this one is working pefectly fine now..lasting as long as my original Canon battery too..

I have used a replica battery BP-511A (no idea the actual brand) before and it worked flawlessly with the 30D and its charger.

I got my replica battery for my 400D six months ago. Works perfectly fine with the charger. No problem at all.

Go for Camera Device brand. Very good and long lasting ....

Lasttime i went SG saw some unknow brand in SimLim. From SG50 till i leavingh the shop the guy gimme SG38 i also dunno...

Reason being...it's labelled 1700 or 2100 mAH....crazy !! :rolleyes:

this is just like handphone battery lor,
u can buy original brand or third party brand.
either one also will work in the original battery charger.
the only thing is it's warranty, battery life, quality, material used in it,
and it's safety.

I bought digicell before... was dud... wouldn't charge.

Returned it and got a replacement... which also turned out to be a dud...

Returned it again and got another replacement... 3rd time lucky? not a chance... another dud.

Returned it and was given another brand... Keep... So far so good. no problems

With non-original batteries, there's always a risk of failures or duds

If you do buy 3rd party try and buy a decent one like Camera Devices.

I'm using one Valomax battery for my 400D. So far so good. Last as long as the original one, no charging problem (but I've just charged it for about 3-4 times) and furthermore got warranty for 6 months. To me it's good a deal for RM70 compare to the original that would cost me RRM220
