No - that's a DX or crop lens, it's not made for full frame cameras.
A second hand 17-40L is not too expensive.
You can also consider something like the Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 which works on full frame.

Yup the cheapest solution is go for tamron. If budget permits, Canon 16-35mm is fantatic for 5D. :D :D *tho it is very very expensive

Sell your EF24-85mm f3.5-4.5 USM and buy EF17-40mm f4L USM since you already have EF24-105mm f4L USM.

i went to this website http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/index.html to check for the lense u mentioned above. seem like they only cater it for nikon not canon. :(
should i just save more money and invest it on sigma 12-24. since it can be used on crop and ff. any advice?? thanx in advance.

Sigma 12-24 is considered super wide, I suggest you go to a shop and try it out. It will give some very odd distortion on a FF camera.
I believe Sigma has the same lens with a Canon mount.
Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8 HSM EX.

anything under normal perspective 50mm (what our eyes see) is considered 'wide'. actually on a FF cam, 24mm is pretty wide. However if you want to go more.. i.e 12mm, 16mm 17mm etc are really considered super-wide and at that focal length, you'd probably get distortion... I don't think you need to go anywhere below 16mm unless it's a fish-eye lens.
Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8 HSM EX.
For your budget you are looking at, i'd consider this also...

thanx for the advice ST and freaky. i think i'll go to the shop and test on the 12-24 and 17-35. i don't really want to have a very obvious distort picture. so probably after testing 17-35, if is good then i'll get this lense. thanx again for all the advice.
oh just to be sure, is this the lense you guys mean: 17-35mm F2.8-4 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM?? :?

Agree with bobtahar there. chenws is also using the Sigma 12-24 on his 5D as well, lovely wide angle, minimal distortion. Have a look at his sample pictures tested using that Sigma here (http://www.lensamalaysia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6816). Lovely, that's what I'd say!
