can i stack a CPL filter on top of a UV filter.. will it have any effect on the photo? and how do i make use of the turning ring? i don't even know about the ring until i actually saw one myself.. my father in law was clearing up his old camera equipment and found a few filters that matches my lens thread diameter so now i have a pair of CPL and don't know how to use it..
p/s: asked him about it and he also not sure.. his lens were using CPL all the while without UV.. don't even want to ask why..

if u want to stack UV & CPL, usually either one have to be slim version. if not, you will see "vignetting" around the edges of your frame.

how do i know if filter is slim? does it say @ the filter itself? i'm using the normal hoya UV filter on my 77mm thread and the pro1 hoya UV filter on my 58mm thread.. any of it is slim? or both normal..

haha.. thanks for the honest answer.. and also thanks for asking about the 'stop' increment question @ D40/X owner section.. i was just thinking about asking the same thing and create a thread about half hour before i found your post in that thread.. i also used to think 1 stop of the dial! (i think i'm going off topic here :P) hehe..
