I always have trouble getting satisfactory results converting film to digital. Please share your methods (and hopefully it is an affordable solution!)

Why not take a look at this site for a start :)

It's a bit beyond budget at the moment. Right now, I am using a cheapo Canon flatbed. Adequate but sharpness and colour could be a lot better.

I use a Nikon Coolscan IV ED borrowed from a friend. Spend an entire day scanning the thing in 6 at a time, then return him.

But results are exactly what I want, and what I see in my print (maybe even better than my print in some cases).

Can't go wrong with the Coolscans.

How much will a brand new Coolscans cost ?

nikon coolscans easily cost RM2k ++ above :D

actually i wouldnt mind paying a reasonable sum to have negatives and film scanned by a good high quality scanner.

there's always a small price to pay for perfection

Was checking Coolscans IV the other day...I think it is around 4 plus.
I suggest..We pool our money and share the scanner.
EVeryone 2 weeks rotate amongst us.

I've done that before and the results were disappointing. Colours were not good and they scanned in low res. Price was RM15 per roll but that was about 2 years ago. I didnt bother after that. I just got myself a Coolscan and will put it to the test one of these days. Now its a good excuse to dig out my film stuff again. :)

I have just started using the 4400 too. Starting with old photos. Quite happy with results on B/W. But faded color prints - still have to learn to adjust to get a reasonable scan. Results too bluish. Giving me a headache:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Oh I have the CanoScan FS2710 film scanner. But trying to get the driver for windows XP in unzipped version. Cannot so far unzip the cfs366 file downloaded from the internet.
Any help most appreciated. Thanks

rac, seriously depends on the scanner used and resolution you are looking for.
