Regarding ur quest, Penang do have fisherman's village, got a few.

Jelutong Expressway is one of it, but very small. Other than that, Teluk Kumbar, Batu Maung, Teluk Bahang and Balik Pulau.

Personally, I reckon the new dam at Titi Kerawang.... that place is nice, undisturbed and not much of crowd hogging the nice scenery.... :D

After shooting over the place I have mentioned above, u can go hike into the Pantai Keracut from End Of The World hiking trek, but beware... as I had seen several papa, mama and kiddo wild boars before. If you are lucky, u can even see some wild water buffalos.... :D

oh yeah... i asked around about this place. after hiking 2 hours then u'll reach this beautiful beach. thanks for the recommendation!

talking about dam, there is a place called Mengkuan Titi Dam at Bukit Mertajam. I followed my friend for jogging there and it's quite nice!

Besides landscape zumi, my fascination with Penang since i was a kid was the streets of the old yesteryears of Penang. You can spend hours walking along backalleys and belakang mati kedai's in the city checking out the real Penang. NOT FTZ okay  :D

Zumi, take a hike to Pantai Kerachut. But before that, you might wanna shoot some fisherman village/boats at this place called "End of The World", which is near the entrance to the hiking path that leads to Pantai Kerachut (thru a forest reserve). Make sure you dont go alone. Anyway, these boats are sometimes used to provide services for those who are lazy to hike, and they will fetch visitors to the Pantai Kerachut Jetty. Further up, and you will find the USM research center... but i dunno if its accessible to public or not.

jay, if u go pantai kerachut, u wont past by USM research center, unless u go Muka head, and tat will be more than 2hr hike.

Actually it got 2 path for u to select at the entrance. If u select the path to pantai kerachut, u'll only reach Pantai Kerachut; if u select the path to Muka Head, then u'll past by USM research center, Monkey beach and finally Muka Head where the light house located. But this is a long way to go, better prepare for the long hike.

My advise is, dont go after 4pm if u want to do day trip, the jungle will start to get dark around 5.30pm
