Recently I have change from desktop to a laptop. I realise that the colour on this laptop monitor is too cool (blueish). When I shoot yellow, it turns white on the screen, while white turns blue. The colour in this monitor and my camera LCD is totally different. It really confuses me when viewing photos.
So anyone willing to tell how to do colour calibration on the laptop to get the most accurate colour? Thanks.

You need to buy a Hardware Calibration device like the Spyder3Pro, Gregtag Eyeone or similar.

We can't stick everything..
That's why there's a very advanced search function (http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/search.php)!

Thanks ST for the reply and pardon me for asking the question that has been answered before. I know the solution is to get hardware calibration tools but I'm not spending hundreds for that. No money.

Hi mik88, not sure whether this will help.
Right click on desktop, than go to "properties".
under "Display properties" go to "settings"
under settings go to "advanced"
Than go to "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver " (My case I am using window XP home Addition)
Than go to "Graphics Properties"
Than go to "color"
Here u can adjust your Gamma, Brightness and contrast. Either All, Red, Green or Blue individually. Than Save as Scheme.
But this is kinda manual adjustment.
I haven't try out, jz found it...
hope it helps abit:)
OR, u try to go under Control Panel, if u can find something call "Adobe Gamma", than u can adjust the colors over there. ( But this is neither found in my PC or Laptop, maybe your version could hv )

Adobe Gamma is only available if you've installed Photoshop.
And adjusting the colours is fine, but you have nothing to benchmark it against.
Hardware calibration is the only accurate way, and it's not that expensive.
A Spyder2 Express is only about 400+.

Newdaddy - Thanks for the suggestion. It will not be very accurate but worth trying out. Will give it a try when I;m back home.
ST - 400 is considered very expensive to me :D Poor man, no money
Zumi - Good question. I'm also waiting for answers from taiko here. :)

In my case, it is not under or over exposed. It turns too cool. WB is gone

My Spyder 2 Express software will prompt me to recalibrate every two weeks :D

Once every 4-6 weeks, if you're using Spyder you can set the interval and it will remind you.
And it won't help with over/under that's what the histogram is for, it helps with true representation of colour and most of all white balance and skin tone.

I have a calibration tool (Gretag Macbeth Eye One) and i can calibrate your monitor for you for a small fee. Just bring your stuff, visit me over lunch time at KLCC or KL Sentral (on weekdays) and in 15 mins you can walk off with a calibrated monitor! :)

Just a quick note about monitor calibrating, the device also checks the ambient lighting in the surrounding area as the calibrating is going on. So if you calibrated in a dark surrounding area and you calibrate in a bright area, the calibration will be based off the surrounding lighting.

I'm thinking of offering calibration service at TT as well, would many people be interested for a small fee?
